An Inside Look

A Creative Presence

The urban gruve band is a group of  talented musicians that started in the year 2016 by the bass player and band leader Samuel Ofori aka chiku. It started as a session group of young men always meeting at gigs to play for other artists. They later came together to form  one unit. Urban gruve is known for their active performance on stage which includes dancing and making their crowd go wild, dance and sing to their favourite tunes of music and other popular music. Mostly  urban gruve performs regularly on weekends at popular bars and restaurants in the country like Zen gardens inside labone(Accra Ghana) , The woods inside Osu(Accra Ghana), Food yard inside Kwabenya(Accra Ghana ) the arrk restaurant just a few to mention.The inspiration that drives them comes from the legend Osibisa and Fela kuti. Our original songs talks about our journey through music, experiences and social issues in our community and world as a whole not leaving love which is the center of everything. With our electric performances we always leave our audience wanting more and more from us.The urban gruve has also thrilled audience at festivals like the Chalewotey music festival in Accra, the annual citiuation outdoor party by Citi FM Ghana, Asabaako festival in the central region of Ghana. We are known to be a band that interacts with our audience and make them enjoy music while leaving a memorable experience in their minds and hearts.

Project and Accomplishment

Urban Gruve is a dynamic musical collective known for their captivating fusion of highlife, afrobeats, afropop, and afrofunk. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as Osibisa and Fela Kuti, they have forged a unique sound that celebrates the rich heritage of West African music while incorporating modern elements.

Formed in Ghana, Urban Gruve has quickly risen to prominence within the music industry, winning the prestigious Best Band of the Year award at the Ghana Prime Industry awards 2023. This accolade speaks to their exceptional talent and ability to captivate audiences with their infectious rhythms and electrifying performances.

The band is currently embarking on an exciting series of projects. First on their agenda is "The Bar Man Concert," a highly anticipated event that promises to be a night of pulsating rhythms and memorable melodies. This concert will showcase Urban Gruve's incredible stage presence and their ability to bring the crowd to their feet.

Additionally, Urban Gruve is set to grace the stages of international music festivals and tour venues, spreading their unique blend of West African sounds to a global audience. Their energetic and captivating performances are sure to leave a lasting impression on fans around the world.
